Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today a master of comedy passed on : Peter Boyle (1935 – 2006) left us, and I for one am saddened. He was 71 years old, and he died of heart failure. Boyle did a lot of acting on T.V. and in the movies, but he was best know for his role as Frank Barone on T.V.’s “Everyobdy Loves Raymond.” He was a comic genious and he won our hearts every monday night. so I am here to say also, Everybody loved Peter Boyle, here’s to you my friend.

I realize that this isn’t Theological, but I don’t think we should limit it. Not that we can’t think about things like these theologically. Boyle was only 71 years old; this should be a reminder to us how short life is. This life is but a vapor, we need to live every moment to its fullest. This not only includes sharing the Gospel, but in being joyfull. As Christians we should be full of joy, and God is most satisfied when we are most joyfull, in him. This life isn’t supposed to be all about making sure you did your devotions, and praying your prayers, and not listening to Third Eye Blind, like your checking off some kind of list. We need to take joy in this life and praise God for every breath he gives us. Because as Peter Boyle experienced today, life is short, and eternity is forever.

I’ll miss that old guy…Praise be to the one who has power over life and death. It is great to know that all of life—and death are a part of his great plan to bring glory to himself which should spring joy in us.

I will miss him as well. He allowed us to enjoy the good gift from God – laughter. May we be living life in light of eternity. This reminds me that this is not our home, we are sojourners here. I think that anything that occurs in our culture or the world has theological roots, as Alex mentioned. Let us live out and show that theology is not just in our heads but that it applies to life. It applies to a comedian dying and to two people being found dead in their car and to all the crazy world leaders. Hope you guys are having a good break.
